Arsht Center for the Performing Arts released its Summer Calendar this week and South Floridians are in for several treats.

The most exciting show is Slava’s SnowShow which was described as a mix between the wonder of Cirque du Soleil and the interactive nature of the Blue Man Group. Slava’s SnowShow is promising Snow from July 24 - August 17. Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow…..

Celia: The Life and Music of Celia Cruz June 18- July 6

  • Witness 60 years in the musical life of this beloved superstar. Miami is the starting point for the worldwide tour

Miami Libre July 25 - August 17

  • Dance production by Miami’s Tiempo Libre tells the story of a musician’s search for love and liberty

There is no such thing as a free lunch but there is such thing as a free movie premiere and tomorrow night there is a movie screening compliments of Books and Books.

The movie being shown gratis is The Life Before her Eyes starring Uma Thurman and Evan Rachel Wood. The movie starts at 8:00 p.m. and is being shown at Sunset Place.

It’s the Second Saturday of the month which means it’s Art + Design night and Wynwood and the Design District will have plenty of galleries and studios to visit. Amongst the galleries many artists open their studios especially at 1rst and 21rst Studios located at 2045 NW 1rst Ave.

And since it’s M4, so this weekend Bakehouse Complex and CIFO should be on your radar. CIFO will be hosting their Second Saturday concert series from 7-11:00 p.m. with Plan B, Universal Citizens, and Floyd performing.

If you’ve ever been to Cirque du Soleil and wanted to learn how to perform some of those wonderful aerial sequences well you’ve years of training and practice ahead of you. Thanks to Animate Objects you have a place to start this weekend at the first ever SnowBird Winter Aerial Arts Festival with trapeze, strap, aerial yoga, and fabric classes.

If you’re scared of heights then you should still stop by the night time performances at the Colony Theater, 1040 Lincoln Road, Saturday at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday at 6:00 p.m.

Also note that Animate Objects Physical Theater manages FlySpace an indoor, aerial training facility in Miami.
