You know the old saying when one door closes another one opens? Well in Miami during this time of year it’s almost like one door is starting to close and the next is already opened. The South Beach Food and Wine Festival is packing their china and silverware, and tossing the leftover wine while M4 is also wrapping it up and throwing their closing party at The Standard this weekend. So as we bid farewell to them it’s already time to focus all eyes on the 25th annual Miami International Film Festival, which opens this Thursday, February 28th. There are lots of interesting movies to choose from, first on my list for Friday night is the film It’s Hard to Be Nice. Movie listings are available online and some movies will be shown several times at different venues.

The holidays are over and now it’s back to normal well easing back into normal and by next week we’ll be there. Funny that the temperatures in Miami finally dipped below 50 after the holidays.

As I think about 2008 I start to set aside a few calendar dates, organize favorite sites, and focus on some growing interests and trends like adding a luxury twist to an existing idea. Ideeli and Gilt Groupe embraced the idea of selling one luxury item per day at a discounted price while supplies last, both are similar to Woot:
